Annual General Meeting

Present:  Peter Brown, Peter Hulme, Chris Boott, Jean Chapman, Julia Cox, Gordon Timmins, Chris Newman, Cynthia Newman, Sue Ellis, Nick Ellis, Cathy Jones,  Dave Shirt, Angela Shirt, Graham Hawker,  Sue Phillips,  Viv Phillips, Ange Boott, Karen Dignan, Richard Moseley, Tom Tucker, Teresa Thomas.

  • Minutes of the Meeting 2 November 2022
    • All agreed and matters dealt with through the year. 
  • Matters arising
    • None.
  • Treasurer’s Report
    • Dave Shirt presented an Income Statement for the year ending 31 August 2023 and a Balance Sheet.
    • Surplus for year £29.30. Balance carried forward is £1184.67.
    • Accounts reviewed by R. Ebrey for which he was thanked.
  • Secretary’s Report
    • Update provided on the year: 
    • Four committee meetings held and 4 quarterly meetings held.
    • Currently 100 people on the mailing list and 237 Facebook page followers.
  • Chair’s Report
    • Update on talks over the year, all lively and interesting.
    • Sound financial position maintained at year end.
    • Continuing upward trend recorded in website visits and sessions.
    • Development of Members’ area website and IT by Chris Boott.
    • Thanks to both members and committee members for sharing expertise and materials.
    • Presence in Aldermaston and Wasing Show Community gazebo; Heritage Open Days participation at two venues; all involved were thanked.
    • AHG members involved in Conservation Area Appraisal. Appraisal originally submitted to West Berkshire Council in January 2022, currently awaiting further response from WBC.
    • Summary of Group assets, including C Hall painting, and summary of website content, enumerated by Chris Boott.
  • Annual Subscriptions:
    • Meeting was reminded that 2022/23 subscription were due by end of the year and that subscriptions were maintained at £20.
  • Election of officers and committee
    • All Officers were willing to stand; in accordance with the terms of the Constitution, a specific vote was taken to allow Officers to serve beyond a three year tem.
    • Vote and all agreed.
    • It was re-iterated that new Group members and new Committee members were most welcome.
